Flex Master Lab Tech

Shift: First 7am - 3:30pm or 8am - 4:30pm (can be flexible)
Pay: $30 per hour

Duties: Position will be called upon to provide problem solving work in
a variety of areas. Nature of work will often be more complex than that of less senior technicians. Problems and objectives will be less defined than other lab work.
Contacts: Has direct contact with all plant personnel.
Environment: This position works primarily in the laboratory areas. Superior
physical, mental and visual attention is required. On occasion special safety
equipment may be required for entry into a hazardous manufacturing area.
Waste Disposal: Trained and knowledgeable in appropriate ways of disposing and handling of RCRA hazardous wastes in accordance with all appropriate regulatory requirements.

1. All responsibilities of Senior-level Laboratory technician
2. Complete assigned jobs on time in a proper manner.
3. Assure accurate completion of tests to minimize retests on same sample.
4. Understand and follow lab and company policies.
5. Responsible for proper identification, categorization, isolation, remediation,
containerizing RCRA hazardous waste generated in production areas in accordance with all appropriate regulatory and company regulatory requirements. Supervises personnel under their leadership are properly trained for the performance of all tasks which require handling of hazardous waste.
6. Understand and follow plant and divisional quality program.
7. Keep the lab prepared by standardization of reagents and by notifying the Supervisor of supply shortages.
8. Notify the Supervisor/Manager of all discrepancies in results or other indications of analytical problems.
9. Provide the Supervisor with adequate information to maintain laboratory accuracy and response.
10. Provide maintenance and trouble shooting on instruments.
11. Must be fully certified on Master Level Lab Technician procedures within 12 months of hire date and be recertified biennially.
12. HPLC, GC, proficiency and training ability.
13. Understand and follow lab and company policies.
14. Play an active role in Division and Plant safety and quality programs.

This is a Part-time position which demonstrates the skills and abilities to provide advanced laboratory services with no supervision or direction.

JOB RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to the Quality Supervisor or Laboratory Supervisor.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A college science degree is preferred although suitable experience may be substituted.
Experience: Should have two (2) years' experience as a Senior Lab Technician or
equivalent experience.
Skills:
• Will have demonstrated initiative and self-starting abilities.
• Able to handle complex non-routine tasks with minimal supervision.
• Has demonstrated advanced problem-solving skills.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills are needed.
• Able to develop and write new procedures or revise old procedures with
minimal supervision.
Training:
• Should have detailed knowledge of both laboratory equipment and plant
operations.
