This positionis a foundational leadership role responsible for implementing business strategy across our plant based in Melrose, Minnesota. As the Human Resources Manager, your leadership will drive change with plant leadership and HR peers.

Our HR Team has the ability and support to engage strategically and tactically to execute business goals. You'll make an impact by leading efforts related to positive employee relations and taking a proactive role in shaping the Melrose plant environment to encourage continuous improvement, generating world-class results in cost, quality, service, people, and environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Talent Management:
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to develop recruiting strategies for salaried and hourly roles, ensuring inclusion goals are met. Collaborate with Operations leadership on candidate selection, interviewing, and finalist recommendations.
  • Lead implementation of corporate programs for performance management, succession planning, and career development.
  • Support learning and development by analyzing needs, delivering training, ensuring compliance, and evaluating results.
  • Build talent in a manufacturing environment using proven acquisition and development strategies.

Employee & Labor Relations:
  • Promote a positive employee environment through effective communication and collaboration with leaders and hourly employees, including regular floor presence and participation in Daily Management System boards.
  • Coach leaders on employee engagement and resolving relations issues, driving accountability and consistency.
  • Advise on Minnesota Labor Laws, including timekeeping, leave of absence, mandatory training, and guidance for plant leaders.
  • Own and manage employee relations matters, including leading investigations and driving resolution. Partner with the Employee Relations team as appropriate to ensure thorough, fair, and timely outcomes. Provide expert guidance on policy interpretation and application, while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and company standards.
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence, Total Rewards, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, HRSC, Employee Relations, and Corporate Legal Counsel.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and 6+ years as an HR Generalist/Manager OR Master's Degree and 3+ years as an HR Business Partner/Manager.
  • Proven experience in business acumen to understand business drivers and creates opportunities to connect with the business directly to learn about its needs and perspectives and seen as credible functional expert.
  • General knowledge base of Minnesota Labor Laws and ability to partner with Land O'Lakes resources on pending legislation.
  • Demonstrated business acumen to understand drivers and connect with business needs.
  • Experience in engaging with employees of all levels in a facility through the execution of operations line floor walks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years working as an HR Business Partner or Manager in manufacturing/production.
  • Human Resources certification (SPHR, PHR) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish (verbal and written).
  • Familiarity with Workday (ERP) systems.
  • Project management experience applicable to Human Resources and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Engaging employees at all levels through operational floor walks.
  • Strong communication skills (in both small and large groups) and ability to influence, lead, and drive change in a complex manufacturing/production environment.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with HR resource teams to achieve plant objectives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation and facilitation skills. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Hours: This is an on site role that primarily works a Monday-Friday schedule during standard business hours, while supporting a 24/7, 365-day manufacturing operation. Flexibility is required to work outside traditional hours, including occasional off-shift or weekend coverage, to meet business needs and provide support to employees across all shifts.

Salary Range: $93,360 - $140,040. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
