We are looking for a Multi-crop Summer Research Intern and in this position, you will support the research activities for seed development.  You will assist with the overall management of the research plots, greenhouse activities, and develop operational knowledge in the area of seed research. The position is located in Shakopee, MN(USSH).

Essential job functions:

• Assist sugarbeet, maize and small grain programs in sowing, transplanting, DNA/RNA sampling, ratings, notes, and seed harvest.
• Assist field crews with thinning, weeding, assembling structures, crossing blocks, rogueing, and seed harvest.
• Thresh, process, clean, weigh, package and set up seed in the Seed Room.
• Perform general maintenance and cleaning or sanitation tasks.
• Assist with other activities as assigned.
• Ensure Company handbook, Rules, Regulations, Procedures, and safety policies are followed and personal protective equipment is used correctly.
• Must be flexible with daily work assignments and schedule. 

• Meet attendance requirements.

Preferred qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience working independently or well with a team.
• Strong problem solving, detail-oriented and organizational skills.
• Valid United States driver’s license and the ability to travel.  
• Basic farm and crop science knowledge

Working environment:

Perform outdoor and indoor work in variable conditions including heat, cold, dust wind, and rain. Field and farm environments with exposure to pollen and chemicals.
