Position Title: Truck Driver

Location: Wichita, Kansas

Employee Status: Full-time. Permanent

 

Job Summary:

The Truck Driver operates vehicles to transport equipment & parts for the dealership. The Truck Driver instructs customers on equipment operating procedures & completes a delivery checklist to ensure customer satisfaction.  Some travel requires overnight stays.  Following safety procedures & government regulations is critical for this position, including log books & pre-trip inspections. Excellent communication with company personnel & customers is required.

 

The ideal Truck Driver has...

  • High school degree or GED required
  • CDL License required
  • Excellent driving record, with no preventable accidents in the previous three years.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as semi-trailer operator.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of computer systems / software and smartphones for email and internet-based applications such as mapping / GPS software.

You will contribute to our team by: (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Ensuring all company values are adhered to and promoted.  This would include leading by example and participation in employee recognition programs.
  • Receiving scheduling information from manager, loads trailer with outbound equipment, delivers equipment to destination, unloads equipment, and loads any equipment for the next destination.
  • Contacting customer (or destination) as needed to confirm location / directions as required, and any requirements for unloading, loading, attachment location, etc.  Upon arrival, greets customer in a friendly and professional manner.  Ensures customer is satisfied with delivered equipment, doing a walk around or brief operation as required.  Delivers all attachments and operating manuals to the customer. Confirms customer is satisfied before leaving the premises, and notifies supervisor immediately of any customer concerns.
  • Complying with all safety procedures and government regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and company policy.  Pre-trip inspections, equipment condition, oversize requirements, out-of-state licenses and requirements, log books, etc included.
  • Being responsible for the equipment that is assigned.  Personally maintains a safe and clean vehicle, and ensures any and all required maintenance (scheduled or as needed) is performed timely and completely.  Report any issues that he cannot resolve to supervisor promptly.
  • Being  professional with customers and others they interact with, to ensure a quality company image is communicated.   Projects clean, professional appearance.
  • Ensuring excellent communication within supervisor, dispatcher, other dealership location personnel, etc. to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.

If you have/can: (Skills and Experience)

  • Ability to operate trucks as well as the agricultural, construction, consumer equipment he loads and unloads.
  • Ability to operate vehicles in normal weather conditions (snow, rain, etc.)
  • Familiarity with agricultural / construction equipment preferred, so that basic customer questions can be answered.
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours during the week and for weekend coverage.
