Position: Field Breeding Research Assistant

Location: Headingley, MB

 

A day in the life…

As a highly motivated Field Breeding Research Assistant you will support the activities of the onsite Field Testing Agronomists. This is a field-based position, and you will assist with all aspects of the field trial program including planting, plot maintenance, data collection, and harvesting. You will work closely with the Field Testing Agronomists and associated team members to execute the crop research program which enables the advancement decisions by Bayer scientists and product placement decisions for Bayer customers. You will also play an active role in site SSHE and QMS programs. This position is a 4-month term with the possibility for extension.

 

What you bring to the table…

  • You have completed (or are close to completion) of an agricultural related diploma, a degree or MSc is an asset.
  • You have previous farming experience and a good understanding of agronomic practices, including farm equipment operation and repair.
  • You have hands on experience in plot research and a strong understanding of field research methodologies.
  • You have strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • You can work long hours as needed, especially during planting, spraying and harvest seasons.
  • You have a provincial pesticide applicator license (or a willingness to obtain one).
  • You possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, with a willingness to obtain a Class G endorsement (AB, SK) or Class 3 (MB) or Full G license (ON) - (heavy trailer endorsement).
