Supervisor—Wean to Finish

Highway Farms, an independent-family farm in central Iowa, is seeking a Supervisor to oversee certain Wean to Finish facilities in the HFI's system.

Position Overview

The Supervisor will work as part of the W-F Team, managing and caring for pigs and specific sites. They will oversee certain flows, sites and staff to ensure a high level of performance and efficiency. The Supervisor will ensure that all site requirements such as daily chores, equipment adjustment, vaccination, feed ordering, sorting, loading, sanitation and record-keeping are performed based on HFI's SOPs. The Supervisor will ensure, on a daily basis, consistent implementation of best practices on the farms that drive productivity, profitability, optimize efficiency, promote sustainability, and safeguard the well-being of the animals. Individuals will implement and monitor all standard operating procedures, animal welfare practices and bio-security protocols are adhered to and implemented.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Daily focus will be on the care and well-being of the wean to finish pigs.
• Assure that proper care and well-being of the animals is being achieved.
• Assist in developing and achieving production goals and targets.
• Monitor the implementation of HFI standard operating procedures, animal health, and biosecurity protocols.
• Timely collection and review of records.
• Support and maintain a positive relationship and effective communication with team members, growers, and management.
• Ensure facilities, equipment and ventilation are maintained and kept in good working condition for the animals.
• Be an active participant and contributing part of the Wean-to-Finish Team

Qualifications

• A passion, temperament, and commitment to animal care and well-being.
• Experienced in swine production.
• Ability to work within a team atmosphere.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills.
