Job Description:

***Intern placement can be 4 or 8 months, starting in January 2026***

 

Location:

  • Hensall, ON

 

Learning/Scope:

The seed intern will work alongside the Seed and Research Manager learning seed manufacturing, distribution and logistics and the servicing of crop inputs and food grade contracts. The Seed Intern will also learn and conduct field scouting, agronomic, and customer service skills.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The safe operation, loading, applying, and handling of seed and seed equipment.
  • Provide internal customer service with respect to "in-season" ordering and logistics for delivery.
  • Proactively manage inventory across all geographical areas which might include transferring of inventory from location to location.
  • Facilitating ordering, delivery and inventory levels of fertilizer, crop protection products and seed to meet overall business objectives.
  • Review forecasts along with position reports and engage in conversations with Seed and Research Manager where to get product if we are in a long/short position.
  • Work with location managers, accounting staff, and management on inventory counts for seed.
  • In season field and crop scouting for timing of pesticide applications and grower knowledge and awareness.
  • Crop reports for FM's and Marketing staff.
  • Seed plot duties including planting and pesticide management.
  • Accountable for assigned duties across cross-functional segments of seed/fertilizer/crop protection.

 

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing degree or diploma in Ag-business or related field
  • Understanding of crop retail products and services including seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products
  • Proficient use of computer programs including Microsoft Office
  • Minimum of a valid 'G' Driver's License from Ontario

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a valid G Driver's License 
  • Resourceful
  • Tech savvy - you can navigate through various systems and on-line tools
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with team cross-functionally

 

Pay:

  • $20/hour for 40 hours/week
