QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in row crop and forage production; haylage and silage experience strongly preferred
- Solid mechanical aptitude; strong equipment maintenance and troubleshooting skills
- Preferred experience in pivot irrigation operation and maintenance
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience managing farm labor
- Capable of working as a hands-on manager involved in daily operations
- Skilled in:
- Production planning and oversight
- Crop input application (fertilizer, chemicals, herbicides, pesticides)
- Equipment and field inspections
- Record keeping and documentation
- Ability to manage:
- Resource allocation and material usage
- Project delegation and staff oversight
- Communication between internal team and external vendors

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a Colorado producer in locating a Working Farm Manager to join their team and take an active leadership role in the operation s daily activities. This position will require direct involvement in fieldwork while supervising a small crew and coordinating with ownership.
Responsibilities Include:
Crop Production & Field Management:
- Oversee and perform planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, and storage of crops
- Monitor crop growth and inspect fields for maturity, damage, and nutrient needs
- Analyze soil conditions and recommend amendments for optimal yields
- Ensure precise and timely application of crop inputs
Equipment Operations & Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain all farm equipment (tractors, tillage tools, sprayers, harvesters, etc.)
- Conduct equipment inspections, perform minor repairs, and coordinate major repairs
- Supervise proper cleaning, usage, and storage of all machinery
Irrigation & Manure Management:
- Oversee pivot irrigation systems and ensure timely, effective irrigation
- Manage manure application and maintain accurate environmental records
- Monitor pond levels, precipitation, and soil moisture for field decision-making
Harvesting & Storage:
- Manage silage harvests for triticale, alfalfa, and corn
- Coordinate high-moisture corn grinding, mixing, and ensiling
- Support feed quality goals for dairy production systems
Personnel Management:
- Lead and train a team of 8 F.T. and 2-3 seasonal farm workers
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and enforce all safety protocols
- Assign daily tasks and ensure productivity and accountability
Administrative & Communication:
- Maintain accurate documentation for inputs, yields, and environmental activities
- Assist with input purchasing and inventory tracking
- Track and report expenses; collaborate with office staff and owner
- Communicate clearly with team and management regarding operations and projects
