QUALIFICATIONS:

- Self-starter; able to work independently when needed
- Good communication with owner and co-workers
- Able to take responsibility when owners are away
- Experience feeding cattle required or strongly preferred
- Basic cow/calf knowledge; ability to identify and treat common health issues
- AI/ET familiarity a plus, but not required
- General ranch background with willingness to learn
- Ability to run equipment for feeding and daily ranch work
- Basic fence repair and routine equipment maintenance skills

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a long-established, family-run South Dakota ranch in hiring a dependable Ranch Assistant to help with day-to-day operations. While this ranch is well known for raising high-quality calves. The owners handle sale prep, customer interaction, and most AI/ET work.

This role is focused on feeding, equipment operation, general ranch labor, and basic cattle care. The owners are simply looking for a solid, reliable employee who wants to work on a ranch and be part of a family operation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Daily feeding of cows, calves, and replacement females
- Operating equipment for feeding and basic ranch tasks (tractor, skid steer, etc.)
- Checking cattle, monitoring health, and reporting issues
- Basic fence repair and general upkeep of pens, pastures, waters, and facilities
- Helping with calving and processing when needed
- Routine equipment maintenance and simple repairs
- Assisting with breeding work only if the employee wants (AI/ET not required)
- Other day-to-day ranch tasks as assigned
