QUALIFICATIONS:

- 2-3 years of current farm/ranch experience preferred. Stronger on the equipment side preferred in running & maintaining feed wagon, bale process, windrower, tractors, etc, as needed.
- Multi-faceted individual with experience in putting up hay, working with machinery, pivot irrigation equipment, and farming ability.
- Willing to assist with cattle during busy times, whether it be calving, branding, weaning, assisting the chute side, or giving shots in the branding circle.
- Organized, neat, and able to take direction, have a good attitude, be dependable and trustworthy
- Good "gentle" equipment operator with general maintenance skills on newer John Deere equipment
- Able to work the majority of the time independently, but also with others as a team when needed
- Individual that is seeking stability and long-term employment
- Need good communication, customer service, and negotiating skills

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a qualified Ranch Hay Assistant to work for Western Montana Ranch. The employer is looking for an individual who has the ability to take care and maintain some 3000+ acres of pivot irrigation and additional meadows and assist in some irrigation with wheel lines and hand lines. It may also include a few acres of other farming when rotating older hay ground for a season or two before reseeding back to alfalfa or more productive grass and forage. This past year they leased out 500 acres that went to wheat. Currently, the majority of hay is contracted out and put up on shares, the ranch does assist with a swather and moving ranch share of the bales. In the winter months, one will assist the ranch crew in feeding cattle with bale processors and managing the inventory of the bale yard. Pending skills, one will also assist with cow operation from time to time. Have new corals with a new Silencer Chute for processing cattle when needed. The employer is not looking for a cowboy; need the right person who may actually prefer the tractor seat over the saddle. Nice shop on site for maintaining and working on equipment to keep things tuned for the upcoming season. Solid 3 bedroom home with 1 bath, that has been fully remodeled that was just completed. It has a good location, is family-friendly, kid-friendly, and is a great opportunity. K-6 and 7-12 Schools are just a short distance away in addition for a spouse to find employment in the area. Salary will be dependent on overall experience, stability, and references.
