JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large dairy located in Florida who is searching a Parlor Manager. This position will overseeing the milking parlor and hospital pen, including managing staff, maintaining equipment, ensuring hygiene, and contributing to herd health. Key duties include supervising daily milking, managing staff schedules and training, performing or coordinating maintenance on parlor equipment, and ensuring strict hygiene and safety protocols are followed.
Key responsibilities:
Staff and operational management:
- Supervise, train, and schedule employees working in the milking parlor.
- Delegate daily chores, such as preparing the parlor, milking, and cleaning.
- Ensure protocols are followed in a timely and organized manner.
- Will be involved in hiring and firing decisions.
Equipment and facility maintenance:
- Perform scheduled maintenance on milking parlors and associated equipment.
- Ensure machinery, manure systems, and other facilities are in good working order.
- Coordinate repairs and order necessary parts and supplies.
- Troubleshoot problems that arise with equipment or facilities.
- Work closely with the maintenance manager to ensure smooth operation
Animal care and health:
- Oversee the cow flow through the parlor to maintain efficiency and minimize stress.
- Ensure proper milking procedures are followed, including pre- and post-dip processes.
- Monitor and improve parlor performance and herd health.
- Oversee hospital milking and treatment of sick animals
Inventory and administration:
- Order supplies and medications as needed.
- Maintain necessary records and paperwork.
