QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or six years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Minimum of 1 year of merchandising in at least 3 different markets, with increasing levels of responsibilities.
- Minimum 3 years working in a grain elevator in operations, with increasing levels of responsibilities, may be in conjunction with merchandising.
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting an Ag Business in search of a Grain Originator. The Grain Originator promotes risk management strategies and other services offered at the company to area producers by building customer relationships that help grow sales and membership. The FMS works with the Grain Department Management Team and the Assistant Grain Merchandiser to manage the cash grain bushels, provide marketing programs, and logistic controls to help achieve the companies missions and goals, which result in outstanding customer service and a profitable Grain Department.

Responsibilities:

Risk Management
- Compiles Risk Management Strategies for customers, and executes these individual customer sales strategies with customer.
- Tailors risk management strategies, products, and contracts to the risk bearing ability, understanding, and comfort level of each producer.
- Supports the grain department policies and accounting functions. While adhering to the controls of the department and company as per the Authorized Grain Position Policy.
- Adheres to Companies pricing policies and credit terms.
- Understands the principles and application of crop insurance and coordinates with Company's crop insurance partner.

Sales & Marketing
- Executes sales calls with regular and prospective customers to solicit grain sales and marketing leads.
- Promote benefits of risk management strategies tied to forward grain sales to customers.
- Promote and support the Crop Insurance, Grain, and Agronomy programs and policies.
- Promote the benefits of the Companies membership to prospective customers.
- Increases grain market share, wallet share, and customer retention while maintaining or enhancing overall margins.
- Monitors customer offers, contracts, settlement documentation, and communicates as needed.
- Supports, coordinates, trains, and assists Location Management and Customer Service Representatives in effective grain origination and producer risk management.

Relationship Management
- Establish and service a personal book of grain origination business focusing on producers and/or prospects who are willing to use elevated risk, or they are technically demanding, and/or high volume.
- Coordinate and assist in round table meetings with grain members along with the other grain personnel.
- Be knowledgeable of all grain programs offered and work with Grain Department to originate grain.
- Assists in the origination and purchase of producer grain from the farm to companies grain locations or delivery points by developing producer relationships.
- The FMS will be expected to conduct a combination of producer visits on the farm and at Companies grain locations to purchase producer grain and to discover supply intelligence for the market area.

Collaboration
- Promote and develop strong communications with all of Companies Divisions, Branch Location Managers, and all customers, to capture cross selling opportunities and enhance market share with all products and services available.
- Assist locations/departments during busy seasons.
- Professionally develop relationships with managers and customer service staff, so they are welcome at the location and seen as an important source to help them with grain and or feed questions. Producer Programs
- Develops annual producer programs including crop insurance policies, grain contract alternatives, record keeping, firm offer management, and follow-up calls associated with the marketing plans.
- The FMS will utilize Companies grain contract alternatives in tangent with crop insurance to develop and enhance the producer's personal risk management knowledge and abilities while concurrently encouraging the producer to commit to a longer term management approach.

- Direct and oversee specialty value-added grain initiatives.
- Establish visibility with local agricultural organizations and marketing groups.
- Work in tangent with Companies Grain Team and Communication Department to develop and promote appropriate targeted media to better serve and inform members, customers, and prospects.
- Assist in coordinating all FOB sales made in FMS's assigned territory with the Company's Logistics departments.
