Job Title: Feedlot Assistant Manager
Hansen Ag Placement is seeking a Feedlot Assistant Manager for progressive family-owned cattle feeding operation in South Dakota to oversee day-to-day operations at their primary yard.
This is not a general labor role—this is a hands-on leadership position with real responsibility, autonomy, and long-term growth potential.
Competitive compensation package starting in the $60,000-$65,000 range, with flexibility for the right candidate depending on experience, housing needs, leadership ability, and long-term fit.

This is not simply a "clock-in/clock-out" role. They are looking for someone interested in becoming a long-term part of a progressive and growing feedyard operation.
The operation currently manages:
- 7,000-8,000 head of cattle
- 3 company-owned yards + additional custom feeding
- All within a 60-mile radius
The primary yard features:
- All concrete pens (minimal mud)
- Modern, computerized feeding systems
- Well-maintained, newer equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the primary feedyard
- Monitor and execute:
- Feeding programs (limit-fed system)
- Cattle health and performance
- Maintain efficiency and workflow across the yard
- Assist with operations across additional yards as needed
- Step in as the go-to leader on-site
Ideal Candidate
Must Have:
- Strong feedyard experience
- Proven leadership ability
- High level of accountability and ownership
- Team-first mindset and easy to work with
- Willingness to learn and adapt to their system
Preferred:
- Mechanically inclined
- Comfortable with equipment maintenance
