QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Diesel Mechanics Degree w/ 3+ years relative experience or will consider 10+ years of experience
- 2-3 years of experience minimum in operating modern farm equipment a must, familiar with dairy and silage/forage operation would also be preferred
- Technical knowledge of GPS, auto-steer and precision farming
- Dedicated and willing to work long hours during peak seasons
- Routine mechanic ability with an attention to detail a must
- Hard working, team player, strong communicator, self-starter, high morals, good ethics, motivated, and honest
- Willingness to jump in and assist when and where needed is a must
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-Placement is searching for a good Farm Mechanic for a New York employer located in the Finger Lakes region. Farm mechanic will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repairs. Farm has good facilities and shop. Need a dedicated mechanic experienced in diesel and gas engine repair. Need someone experienced with small engines, Ag equipment and heavy equipment. Brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, welding and fabrication experience are required. Mechanic will be responsible for ordering parts and maintaining the inventory of parts and must be able to plan how equipment will come through the shop in the off-season. Searching for a candidate familiar with reading service manuals, parts manuals and just good all around mechanical ability. This person needs to know planting through silage harvest, have experience with large modern farm machinery and have a technical mindset that is not afraid of change. This position is related to dairy feedstuffs and will oversee maintaining and servicing equipment to keep the 700 cow dairy running efficiently. They run over 2000+ acres of land. This person will work in a team environment, work long hours in peak season, must be dedicated, and have common sense along with solid crop production experience. This is a progressive operation looking for the right person committed to long-term employment, someone to grow with the business. This position offers advancement opportunities in pay and responsibility as the person becomes familiar with the business. In years past, this employer has experienced low turnover in their farm operations.
