JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a mid-size dairy located in Ohio who is searching for an experienced, hands-on Dairy Manager to oversee the day to day operation of the facility. The Dairy Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the cow herd and youngstock, keeping production records accordingly. There is no field / crop work with this position. Dairy uses breeding service, but AI experience is a plus.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Work with cows in a manner that is the least disruptive to their normal routine.
- Use SCR to monitor herd health daily and treat sick cows according to farm protocols.
- Work with employees to identify mastitis cases, culturing milk samples from those cows and treating according to protocol.
- Oversee weekly hoof trimming tasks, pen moves, vaccinations, drying cows, etc., and update records daily.
- Organize herd checks efficiently to minimize vet’s time on farm. Work with breeder, vet and genetic company to follow agreed upon protocols.
- Oversee calf program including colostrum management, cleanliness and sanitation, vaccination and treatment protocols, lung scanning and daily communication with calf-care employees to ensure all protocols are followed and calves are healthy.
