Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive and diversified Kansas agricultural operation in searching for a Farm Crops Manager In-Training. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong crop production background who is looking to grow into a larger leadership and management role within a highly progressive operation.

This operation consists of approximately 7,500+ acres of corn, soybeans, potatoes, and wheat, including roughly 4,500 acres under center pivot irrigation. In addition to the crop operation, the business also operates a 5,000-6,000 head backgrounding program along with a 1,500-head feedyard. The farm utilizes large, late-model John Deere precision farming equipment and modern technology throughout the operation.

The employer currently has a long-term employee approaching retirement and would like to identify the right individual now who can be trained and developed into taking over a larger leadership role on the crop production side of the operation in the future. While the overall operation does include livestock production, this position will be heavily focused on the crop production side of the business. The employer is searching for someone who wants to build a long-term career within the operation and who has the desire and ability to continue growing into greater levels of responsibility and management over time.

Primary responsibilities will include operating and managing modern farm equipment during planting, spraying, irrigation, and harvest operations; assisting with agronomy and crop production decisions; helping oversee precision ag functions including GreenStar systems, mapping, and prescription farming; monitoring crop conditions; assisting with equipment maintenance and repair; and supporting the livestock side of the operation during seasonal needs.

The employer is willing to tailor responsibilities somewhat around the strengths and background of the right individual while continuing to develop that person toward a larger crop management role within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Strong crop production background required

- Experience with corn, soybeans, wheat, and/or irrigated crop production preferred

- Agronomy background or strong agronomic understanding highly beneficial

- Precision ag experience including GreenStar, GPS guidance, mapping, and prescription farming preferred

- Experience operating large late-model farm equipment required

- Irrigation experience, especially center pivot irrigation, preferred

- Mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine maintenance and general equipment repairs

- Experience with spraying, planting, harvesting, and grain handling preferred

- Feedlot and/or backgrounding experience is a plus, but crop production will be the primary focus

- Strong work ethic with ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Good communication skills and positive attitude required

- Leadership ability and desire to grow into a management role over time

- Must be dependable, trustworthy, and career-minded

- Flexibility to assist in multiple areas of the operation during busy seasons

This is a family-friendly operation located in an excellent rural community with strong schools and quality of life. Compensation will be based on experience, stability, skill set, and references, with total compensation potential exceeding $100,000+ for the right individual. Excellent benefits package included. In addition to long-term advancement opportunities within the company, ownership is also open to helping the right individual work toward future goals involving land ownership, cattle investment, and potentially building a personal operation over time.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious production agriculture professional seeking long-term career growth with a highly progressive Kansas farming operation.
