JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a good Crop Protection Lead for this large Colorado crops producer. This person will oversee Crop Protection functions dealing with crops grown by the operation:
- Soil sampling, analyzing soil reports, making fertilizer recommendations, and when to apply
- Working with Management on planting of crops including: variety, planting dates, populations, depth, etc.
- Check fields for moisture, insects, weeds, fungus, and all environmental events as determined by Management during growing season and make recommendations verbally and electronically so Management can track growth and challenges of the crop.
- Manage herbicide inventory based on planned use for upcoming year. This may include pricing, taking delivery, and keeping monthly inventory on all crop input items.
- Manage variable rate seeding and fertilizer application based on information available. Soils maps, yield maps, water availability, and soil fertility are a few pieces of information to draw from
- Collect and oversee yield data
- Collect and oversee planting data
- Collect and oversee fertilizer and Chemical needs and usage
This person will make rounds and help monitor field and report to Management. Operate tractor and farm machinery as part of production team when needed. Operations will include Sprayer Applicator, but possibly help plant, drill, plow, etc.

The business finds its roots and its primary identity in grain production (Wheat, Corn, Proso Millet) and implements its knowledge from this core into other diversified ag-businesses. Team member's family and kids can engage with the work within safety protocols and being home for lunch during the slower seasons is an option. The largest amount of time in this position will be operating equipment in the stewardship of the land. Long-term employment opportunity as owners seed business is growing. Interest in assisting in seed business from working with seed sales, warehouse, agronomy and deliveries could and would be a strong asset. Prefer family man that is social, take pride in what they do, and have good leadership ambition. This position requires its operators to be active in their stewardship, engaged with the task at hand and understanding how it connects to the larger picture, "a brain in the cab not a body in a seat." Experience operating equipment and driving semis is a plus but not a requirement, but being honest, disciplined, and ambitious for the greater good is required.
Able to handle routine maintenance and general repairs so to perform maintenance on equipment in the off-season, so it is ready to go before the next crop season. The primary responsibility of this position is the operation of equipment used in planting thru harvesting of grain. The duties of the position vary with the seasons and the needs of the operation, so it is important this individual is willing to adapt to changing circumstances, is flexible and have a good attitude. Prefer a candidate with some grain handling experience, drying, storage, etc. and able to climb the grain bins would be a plus. Need someone who takes pride in what they do and are a self-motivated individual with a good agriculture background and solid character. Must be able to take direction, have a neat appearance, good work ethic, and a passion for farming. Should have good problem-solving skills, the handiness to find and build solutions when the need arises, able to handle multiple demands, be flexible, and able to adapt to last minute changes. Candidate also needs to be able to work and get along with others and be willing to help others when needed and to be a team player. Pay depends on the experience in row crop production and experience or ability to sell seed. Operation is located near schools, nice towns and good people.
