JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive and diversified Kansas operation in searching for a Cattle Manager In-Training to oversee the day-to-day cattle operations for a 6,000-head backgrounding yard along with a smaller 1,500-head finishing yard. Current Manager is retiring next year and would like to find person they can start grooming for their replacement.
The primary focus of this position will be overseeing the livestock side of the operation, including cattle health, feeding, processing, receiving cattle, identifying and treating sick cattle, monitoring cattle performance, and helping supervise a small crew involved with the cattle operation. The employer is searching for someone who takes pride in cattle care, understands animal health, and can step in and take ownership of the daily cattle responsibilities.
This position will be heavily focused on livestock operations during the primary feeding season, generally October through May. During the slower cattle months and throughout other parts of the year, this individual will also assist with the crop production side of the operation as needed. Farming responsibilities may include operating equipment, helping with planting and harvest, assisting with spraying operations, irrigation support, and general farm assistance.
The employer is looking for a well-rounded individual who enjoys both livestock and crop production agriculture and understands that this role will involve helping wherever needed throughout the operation. This is not a "cowboy" position, but rather a practical cattle management role focused on cattle performance, animal health, feeding operations, and day-to-day livestock oversight.
The operation offers a strong work environment with good equipment, solid facilities, and long-term opportunity for the right individual. Employer is searching for someone interested in becoming a key long-term part of the operation and is willing to tailor responsibilities around the strengths of the right candidate.
Compensation package will be based on experience, stability, references, and overall qualifications. Excellent opportunity for someone wanting long-term stability, responsibility, and growth within a diversified farming and cattle feeding operation.
