QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Minimum of 5 years of current ranch work experience with 2+ years in a lead/management position on a progressive ranch preferred
- Solid ranch background with verifiable experience
- Excellent animal health skills from diagnosis to treatment of cattle
- Practical experience with herd management, nutrition, equipment and property maintenance, rotational grazing and management of perennial and annual forages are needed
- Organized, self-starter, and attention to detail with high integrity with good communications skills
- Professional demeanor and manners when communicating with others. Must have basic computer skills with ability to create reports, budgets, and track expenses
- Ability to work with outside organizations of NRCS, universities, ag extension, and land trusts
- Mechanical skills including ability to operate and maintain large machinery including dozers, graders and tractors with various attachments
- Must have physical stamina necessary for lifting heavy objects and long workdays

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for an outstanding working Cattle Department Manager for a progressive California ranch operation. Person will need solid day-to-day ranch operations experience along with time management skills, excellent work ethic, self-motivated and trustworthiness. Heavy equipment operation of Dozers and Grader experience would be a plus. Some Spanish or willingness to learn is beneficial. Experience or interest in sustainable grazing practices and water management practices needed. Experience and skills to work on horseback and the ability to manage horse herd as well as cattle herd. Based on consensus and Board direction, create, and implement sales and grazing plans. The plans should include optimum herd size compatible with sustainable agricultural practices and financial objectives, and act as a short, intermediate, and long-term work plans. Location is excellent with options of school districts, career for working spouse, entertainment, and shopping venues.
