QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Previous experience working with dairy calves preferred
- Basic knowledge of calf feeding programs and newborn calf care
- Ability to identify and treat sick or distressed calves
- Experience with calf processing procedures such as tagging, vaccinations, and dehorning
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to calf health and cleanliness
- Ability to supervise employees and work as part of a team
- Dependable, organized, and able to take ownership of the calf program

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is representing a large dairy operation in Wisconsin who is seeking a dependable Calf Manager to oversee the care and development of calves from birth through early growth stages. This individual will be responsible for managing daily operations within the calf barn and ensuring calves receive proper nutrition, health care, and handling to promote strong development.

The Calf Manager will supervise employees responsible for feeding newborn calves and will work closely with a full-time employee to maintain the calf program. Responsibilities include processing newborn calves, feeding colostrum, and moving calves into individual crates for approximately 6-10 days before transitioning them to the robot barn. The Calf Manager will continue overseeing calves through the weaning stage and into the next barn, where they remain for approximately four months.

Daily duties include monitoring calf health, identifying and treating sick animals when necessary, and performing routine care procedures such as vaccinations, dehorning, and general health checks. The Calf Manager will also ensure all calf equipment, feeding tools, and facilities are kept clean and properly maintained through regular washing and sanitation.
