QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Proven experience in managing employees within a dairy or livestock setting, preferably in large-scale operations.
- A strong foundation in calf raising and youngstock development is essential
- Practical experience with vaccination protocols and nutritional transitions.
- The ideal candidate will possess solid knowledge of cattle health, nutrition, and handling.
- Bilingual communication skills. At a minimum, must be able to speak Dairy Spanish

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is assisting a progressive, large-scale dairy operation located in Texas who is searching for a skilled Calf and Heifer Manager to take charge of a complex and fast-paced operation. This is a hands-on, leadership-intensive role requiring deep expertise in calf and heifer care, bilingual communication, and employee management. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in youngstock care, cattle health, and nutrition, along with the ability to effectively lead, train, and motivate a diverse team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a high-volume environment where attention to detail, team management, and operational efficiency are critical to success.

Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise all daily operations at both the calf ranch and heifer yard to ensure optimal animal care, employee performance, and facility efficiency
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and termination processes for all ranch employees
- Submit payroll records and employee hours to the central office bi-weekly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Monitor and manage feed programs, bunk management, and nutritional protocols in coordination with nutritionists and feed managers
- Maintain adequate inventory levels of medications, vaccines, and supplies; place timely orders and track usage to ensure uninterrupted operations
- Develop and implement protocols for vaccination schedules, health treatments, and proper handling procedures in line with industry best practices
- Plan and execute movement of cattle between partnering dairies and internal facilities, maintaining accurate records and minimizing stress on animals
- Maintain consistent communication with ownership and upper management regarding operational needs, staffing, animal health, and ongoing improvements
- Ensure compliance with all biosecurity measures, animal welfare guidelines, and safety procedures across all sites
