QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous management or supervisory experience in a dairy or agricultural setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of herd health practices, reproduction, and heifer care.
- Experience working on a large-scale dairy operation (1,000+ cows) is highly desirable.
- Proficient in running dairy farm equipment (feeders, loaders, etc.).
- Knowledgeable in feeding programs and animal nutrition.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in record-keeping and data management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on customer service.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, farm management software, etc.).
- Ability to speak Dairy Spanish is a plus.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Assistant Heifer Manager for a mid-sized heifer operation located in Wisconsin. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in dairy management, herd health, and heifer care. The Assistant Heifer Manager will work closely with the farm management team to oversee the day-to-day operations, with a focus on employee supervision, reproductive management, herd health, feeding programs, and heifer processing. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management and supervision of a team responsible for daily heifer care and farm operations.
- Oversee and implement herd health and reproductive protocols, ensuring the well-being of heifers.
- Manage feeding programs and nutrition for heifers to ensure optimal growth and health.
- Perform routine heifer processing tasks such as vaccinations, weighing, and tagging.
- Assist the Veterinarian and Nutritionist with herd health management and nutritional needs.
- Operate farm equipment for tasks such as feeding, moving heifers, and maintaining facilities.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping for herd health, feeding, and other key operational data.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with employees, veterinarians, and nutritionists.
- Follow farm protocols and industry best practices to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement.
