Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is searching for a qualified Assistant Farm Manager for a progressive and diversified crop and custom harvest operation located in northeastern Kansas. This is a hands-on leadership role working directly alongside ownership to help manage and grow a well-established private farm and harvesting business.
Operation Overview
This family-run operation consists of approximately 1,300-1,400 acres of crop production along with a custom harvesting business covering 4,000-5,000 acres annually. The farm raises corn and forage crops and also operates a small feedlot (currently leased but could be brought back into use). The business is at a growth point and looking to bring on a strong right-hand individual to help improve efficiency, assist with planning, and support continued expansion.
Position Summary
This role is designed as a working Assistant Farm Manager who will be actively involved in day-to-day field operations while also assisting ownership with organization, planning, and execution of the farm's production and custom harvest activities. The ideal candidate will be capable of stepping into a leadership support role, helping manage equipment, employees, and seasonal workflow, while also working directly in the field and with machinery.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist with daily crop production operations
· Operate and maintain modern farm equipment
· Support planting, spraying, harvesting, and hauling
· Help coordinate custom harvesting crews and schedules
· Assist with maintenance planning and equipment readiness
· Support operational decision-making and efficiency improvements
· Potential to help manage employees and seasonal labor
· Assist with feedlot operations if brought back into use
· Work closely with owner on planning and execution
Candidate Qualifications
· Strong crop production background
· Equipment operation and maintenance experience
· Ability to work independently and take initiative
· Strong work ethic and positive attitude
· Good communication and organizational skills
· Some management or lead experience preferred
· Willingness to grow into a larger role over time
· Stable work history
