JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
 

  1. Valid driver’s license.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Soil Science.
  3. 4 years of retail experience in Agronomy or related field.
  4. Positive sales attitude.
  5. Prefer a Certified Professional Agronomist.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
 

Purpose/Scope: Works directly with farm customers developing a trusted, consultative selling relationship, helping them produce more and better yields utilizing state of the art chemicals, fertilizer and seed while providing unmatched service. During the spring and fall seasons, works with and assists the operational side of the business as needed.

  1. Scout crops to assist customers improve yields and solve problems.
  2. Work with established customers to meet their agronomy services needs and maintain their business.
  3. Visit fields in a timely manner to collect seed, plant and soil samples.
  4. Testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases or other changes.
  5. Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops and samples.
  6. Generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients or other interested parties.
  7. Developing planting schedules, budgets and timelines.
  8. Assisting sales office with logistics during busy season.
  9. Proficiency with computers, especially diagnostic software.
  10. Exceptional listening and verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Strong research, decision making, technology, and development.
  12. Awareness of industry trends, technology and developments.
  13. Sales and presentation skills.
  14. Maintain or increase existing customer base each year.
  15. Work closely with seed companies to stay current on seed varieties.
  16. Work closely with chemical representatives to stay up to date on current and future developments.
  17. Understand and keep in touch with all seed, chemical and fertilizer suppliers.
  18. Understand the operating side of the custom application equipment and usage.
  19. Manage inventory, fulfillment and delivery of products to customers.
