Job Description:

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and highly motivated hands-on Farm Manager to join our team on the Burmah Aggregation near Inverell on the Northern Tablelands.  This position will work closely with the General Manager and be responsible for timely execution of farming processes along with the implementation of corporate and governance processes.

 

Property and Accommodation Description: 

The aggregation is a 6,365ha mixed enterprise farm made up of 2 properties (Burmah - 5,135ha and The Glen 1,230ha) located within 60km of Inverell and approx. 400km to Brisbane. 3,212ha arable cropping area with scope for further cropping development based on land use selection in line with operational parameters.

 

Family accommodation will be provided on farm as well as access to local schools and community activities.

 

What’s Involved?

  • Daily management of the aggregation encompassing planning, financial performance, operational and employee management,
  • Timely execution of farming operations with cropping and livestock,
  • Implementation of the businesses policies and procedures,
  • Execution of transformation and sustainability activities,
  • Developing a strong culture of teamwork, employee wellbeing and continuous improvement,
  • Working closely with Gunn Agri Partners who provide finance, HR and WHS support. 

 

We are seeking candidates who have the following experience, skills and traits:

  • Solid experience in managing a modern, large-scale broadacre crop farm.
  • Leadership experience in managing and directing staff and contractors.
  • Previous experience with agriculture management systems (such as AgWorld), interpreting agronomic advice and budgeting.
  • Experience in livestock will be considered advantageous including exposure to AgriWebb.
  • Knowledge of sustainable practices is desirable and/or a willingness to adopt and adapt.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Operating and maintaining cropping, farm and/or earth moving machinery. 
  • Sound understanding of work health & safety requirements to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Be physically fit and able to fulfill all requirements of the role.
  • Hold a current drivers’ licence.
  • Able to confidently use Microsoft Office products.
  • Willingness to partake in the local community such as joining the local fire services/brigade.
