Ghostpine Farms Ltd., a hog operation southeast of Red Deer, AB requires 3 full time Swine Herdspersons to perform the following duties:

Location: 10-36440 RANGE ROAD 264, Red Deer County, AB T0M 1R0

Salary: $19.11-$20.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 45 hours per week  (Generally: 11 days on 3 days off - 7am-4pm Mon-Fri; 7am-12 Sat & 7am-2:45 Sun (overtime may be required))

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, Day, Weekend, Overtime required

Starts as soon as possible

Languages: English

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma

Experience: Experience an asset

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Work site environment: Hog and pig farming, Hog management, Dusty, Hot, Noisy, Odours

Work setting: Rural area

Experience and specialization: Equipment and machinery experience, Feeding and watering system

Automated systems experience: Automated environmental control equipment

Job Duties

• Handling animals, Weaning, Feed and tend animals
• Monitoring animal health, Detect disease and health problems in livestock, Treat livestock health issues
• Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration
• Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops
• Maintain livestock performance records, Maintain work records and logs
• Select livestock for sale
• Clean barns, barnyards and pens
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
• Perform general farm duties
