AG MECHANIC TIER I

General Summary:
Gamay Inc. is a ginkgo biloba tree farm in which ginkgo trees are grown and leaves harvested.
Production processes include planting, pruning, subsoiling, fertilization, irrigation, wed control, plant protection, harvesting, and drying of leaves.
The dried leaves are exported to an extraction facility in Ireland that produces a ginkgo biloba extract.
This extract is used to aid in memory function and sold as a dietary / food supplement.
Agricultural equipment is used in all production processes.
PURPOSE AND MAJOR CHALLENGE OF THE JOB:
Within the framework of Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) in force with Garnay, Inc., to maintain, diagnose, repair, fabricate, and operate farm equipment, operate drying equipment in order to meet production programs in regard to the objectives of safety, productivity, quality, and timeliness according to procedures for each process.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
- Training / knowledge in Mechatronics (synergistic integration of mechatronics and electronics).
- A valid S.C. driver’s license and driving record approved by company insurance agent.
- Physically fit to ascend/descend high crop equipment and work outside while exposed to environmental elements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
- Troubleshoot and solve problems with farm equipment with integrated components.
- Perform maintenance on Ag equipment.
- Fabricate special equipment to meet the needs of production.
- Assist other shop personnel with repairs, maintenance, or fabrication on equipment or in other production areas as assigned.
- Become familiar with and obey all farm safety requirements and procedures; attend all required safety training sessions.
- Operate drying equipment.
- Supervise personnel if assigned.
- Operate farm equipment if assigned.
Pay and Benefits:
- $24 to $28, depending on experience.
- Discretionary production bonus can range from $2,500 to $5,000 per year.
- Health insurance premium is paid 100% by the company for the employee, family coverage is available but paid by the employee.
- 401K retirement is up to 6% of the employee's salary and matched $1 for $1.
