Description

Position Summary: 

This position is perfect for a person who values sustainable farming and food production. The Greenhouse Operations Team Intern will have the opportunity to assist in the aeroponic greenhouse to ensure fresh, high-quality leafy greens and herbs are available to our customers. This position involves learning the main aspects of greenhouse operations using aeroponics and organic methods. This Intern position will also work with our newest venture - growing not just greens but mushrooms.  This Intern position will also have the opportunity to learn about the financial part of the business as well.  You will be part of the full process from seedlings to cleaning, and marketing.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Operations Team Lead. 
  • Work with the Sales Manager.
  • Seeding and transplanting.
  • Plant harvesting with scissors and packaging.
  • Trimming of plants with scissors.
  • Trash and recycling disposal.
  • Maintain food safety in compliance with farm guidelines.
  • Greenhouse cleaning (use of shop vacuums, pressure washers, brooms, mops and cleaning rags)
  • Cleaning with bleach, vinegar, food-grade sanitizers, and Isopropyl alcohol daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds to perform necessary tasks, such as carrying supplies and equipment.
  • Able to grasp or hold items to perform necessary tasks, such as handling materials and supplies, moving items, etc.  
  • Able to bend, kneel, stoop, and perform push/pull motions to perform necessary tasks, such as moving light supplies and equipment, picking up materials, etc. 
  • Must be able to climb and stand on step stools and small ladders.
  • Must have visual acuity to be able to work with seeds, seedlings, and other small items.
  • Ability to stand for several hours.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting.  
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Excellent organization skills.

 

Education:

  • Meets requirements for your school Internship program.
