Job Description:


The Role: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Crop Forecasting Intern to join our team. In this role, you will assist in collecting and analyzing agricultural data to predict crop yields, monitor weather patterns, and assess environmental factors affecting crop production. You will work alongside experienced professionals to measure plant populations, evaluate soil health, and contribute to the development of predictive models for crop performance. This internship offers hands-on experience with advanced forecasting tools and the opportunity to learn about sustainable agricultural practices and data-driven decision-making in the farming industry. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data software, and a passion for agriculture are essential.

Areas of Responsibility:
 

Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in gathering and organizing agricultural data, including weather patterns, soil conditions, and crop health, to support accurate crop yield forecasting. This may involve utilizing drone imagery, field reports, and other data sources.

Model Development and Testing: Contribute to the creation and testing of predictive models for crop forecasting by working with data scientists and agronomists. This includes analyzing historical data and running simulations to improve forecasting accuracy.

Field Observations and Reporting: Support field teams in monitoring crop conditions and gathering real-time information on crop growth, pest outbreaks, or disease risks. Report findings to improve forecasting models and make timely recommendations.

Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with team members and stakeholders to provide insights from data analysis and contribute to research projects. Document findings, methodologies, and results in clear reports for internal use.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and statistical software (e.g., Excel)
  • Basic understanding of crop physiology, farming practices, and environmental factors influencing agriculture.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
