Overview:
 

Katzman Produce is looking for a detail-oriented and responsible Food Safety Intern to join our team. This internship is a great opportunity for college students interested in science, health, agriculture, or regulatory compliance to learn about food safety standards in a real-world setting. The intern will support the Food Safety Team in maintaining compliance with safety protocols and promoting a culture of cleanliness and accountability throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in updating and organizing food safety documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), logs, training materials, and audit paperwork
• Help monitor and inspect facility cleanliness and sanitation practices
• Shadow food safety audits and learn how compliance is reviewed, documented, and improved
• Support the preparation for third-party audits and internal inspections
• Assist with employee food safety training efforts by helping prepare materials and engaging employees in food safety reminders
• Help track supplier food safety certifications and update records as needed
• Learn how product recalls are handled and participate in mock recall exercises
• Assist in maintaining documentation for vehicle and equipment sanitation schedules
• Participate in projects that promote food safety awareness throughout the company
• Perform administrative and support tasks as needed by the Food Safety team

What We’re Looking For:

• A college student studying Biology, Public Health, Environmental Science, Agriculture, or a related field
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be 18 years or older
• Interest in food safety, health regulations, or quality assurance
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to follow procedures and take initiative
• Comfortable working in a warehouse or operations environment
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) is a plus
• A positive attitude and eagerness to learn about industry regulations
