We seek two motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as summer interns. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in dairy grazing, flood irrigation, and animal care, all while contributing to the success of our dairy and farm stand operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Dairy Grazing Program:

• Assist in the daily management of our grazing program, including moving cattle to new pastures and ensuring optimal pasture health.
• Monitor and maintain fencing and water systems.
• Participate in rotational grazing strategies to enhance soil health and biodiversity.

Flood Irrigation:

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of our flood irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water use and crop health.
• Monitor water levels and adjust irrigation schedules as needed.
• Help maintain irrigation infrastructure, including ditches and pipes.

Animal Care near the Farm Stand:

• Provide daily care for animals located near our farm stand, including feeding, watering, and cleaning enclosures.
• Ensure the health and well-being of these animals, reporting any issues to senior staff.
• Assist in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for customers visiting the farm stand.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in farm-related events and educational programs.
• Assist with other farm tasks.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements:

• Education (preferred): Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an agricultural, environmental science, or related program.
• Experience: Prior experience in agriculture or animal care is beneficial but not required. A willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
• Physical Demands: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills.
