Community Food Internship Position Summary
GoFarm is seeking motivated, adaptable, and passionate individuals for our Community Food Internship positions. Interns will increase their knowledge of the local food system in Colorado, play an integral role in connecting local farmers to people in the community, and learn the essential operations of a nonprofit. They will work closely with the LFS and CFA Program Directors, as well as other staff and interns in a fun and collaborative team culture. Primary
intern responsibilities will include assisting with food distribution for the LFS and CFA programs, providing excellent customer service, and learning about local farmers and engaging with food justice issues. A final scope of work will be determined based on organizational needs and the intern’s strengths and interests.
Responsibilities and Opportunities
? Support one or more LFS distributions weekly, including setup and cleanup, conducting produce inventory, tracking customer data, providing customer service, and problem solving
? Receive and organize produce deliveries from farmers
? Comply with GoFarm’s Food Safety Plan and ensure the cleanliness of all food handling materials
? Manage setup, cleanup, and operations of CFA markets, including produce inventory, loading and unloading produce and supplies, creating marketing and educational displays, and providing customer service
? Keep records of sales and handle payments at CFA markets, including cash, credit, SNAP/EBT, Double Up Food Bucks, and various other economic incentives
? Occasionally assist with educational and fun activities for adults and children at CFA markets
? Occasionally conduct or assist with food sampling or cooking demonstrations
? Attend orientation and submit onboarding documentation
? Participate in educational workshops, with option to attend Farmer Development and Support workshops
? Attend occasional meetings with community partners
? Learn about local producers and farmers, and help convey information about these local growers to community members
? Participate and engage in education and conversations about race, identity, privilege, and inequity
? Have the opportunity to tour some of the local farms that participate in our programs
Skills and Qualifications
? Flexible, comfortable taking initiative, and collaborative
? Eager to learn and willing to ask questions when needed
? Committed to work the entire internship
? Willing to engage with and be welcoming toward customers and passersby
? Passionate about local food, food equity, and sustainable food systems

? Must be willing to work some evening and morning shifts
? Conversant in English, fluency not required
? Must have a reliable form of transportation
? Must be 18 or older

? Valid Driver’s License & clean driving record
? Willing, capable, and comfortable driving a box truck
Working Conditions
? At least one day every week:
? Several consecutive hours outdoors, exposed to the elements, standing for long periods of time
? Several consecutive hours inside a mobile market truck
? Occasionally working in adverse weather conditions including rain, snow, high wind, and in both the heat and the cold
? Regularly moving large boxes and crates of produce, up to 50 lbs.
? Working in-person with the public in multi-cultural environments.
? May include optional remote computer-based work (Zoom meetings, spreadsheets, etc.)
? May need to drive GoFarm van to transport food between locations
? May drive GoFarm mobile market truck (optional, training available)
