Job Summary:

The intern will be involved with the day-to-day responsibilities of the product and agronomy team. You will be working directly with the Product Manager.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Scout fields for insects, weeds, and diseases. Conduct stand counts and complete reports utilizing crop scouting software. Additionally, orally communicate findings to team.
  • Report product concerns and or complaints and be involved with a resolution that is in the best interest of both the customer and the company.
  • Assist with plot maintenance and overall appearance of plots while meeting company expectations.
  • Assist with plot field sign organization and installation.
  • Take opportunities to learn from customers and growers.
  • Attend company field events, customer events and employee meetings and trainings.
  • Learn the Mustang Seeds row crop line up and the difference in products in relationship to varieties and traits.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to collect and summarize statistical data with skill in use of an iPad and computer.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail required.
  • Capable of working independently while being a valuable team member.
  • Ability to operate small equipment and operate a motor vehicle is required.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Must be a student in good standing at an accredited agronomy or ag business education program.
  • Major in agronomy or a similar field is required.
  • No experience is required; however, farming operations or row crop knowledge is beneficial.
  • Non-expired driver's license is required.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Required to work outside.
  • Over-time hours will be expected and paid at time and a half.

 

Additional Information:

For Summer internship:

  • The program extends for 10-12 consecutive weeks, May - August (flexible start and end dates)
  • 40 hours per week with the possibility of overtime and extended hours
  • Continuation into Fall Internship may be possible.

 

For Fall internship

  • The program extends for 10-12 consecutive weeks (August - November)
  • It may be part-time to fit the intern's school schedule, or full-time if the intern is taking a semester off to gain experience as an intern
