CLA Internship Program

We strive to offer comprehensive internships that provide integral experience in the pesticide/agricultural industry. These internships include hands-on learning and the opportunity to create a relevant portfolio to present to future employers.

These are paid internships, with start dates flexible with students' schedules. Internships typically last 10 - 12 weeks. Ideal candidates have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework, are interested in agriculture policy, and are available for the entire internship duration. Interns are responsible for their own health insurance, housing, and travel expenses to and from Arlington, VA.

 

The Government Relations Summer Intern's responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the government relations team in preparing for participation in the State Association Fly-In. This includes coordinating events with other participating national organizations, updating issue papers, participating in Congressional visits with state delegations, and reporting the event in CLA’s weekly newsletter.
  • Assist the government relations coordinator with the CropLife Political Action Committee (CLPAC) event planning for the CLA Annual Meeting and creating CLPAC branding materials.
  • Attend meetings and events to include but not limited to CLA-sponsored events, relevant CLA committee meetings, Strategic Oversight Council meetings, Pesticide Policy Coalition meetings, PAC events, and relevant congressional hearings and meetings.
  • Design and lead two “Lunch & Learn” Seminars on the benefits of crop protection or similar topics. The targets of these seminars will be 1) CLA staff and 2) other interns working around the Washington, D.C. area in the agriculture industry.
  • Coordinate the Washington D.C Ag Intern Network, including identifying interns interested in agriculture, coordinating educational events with participating organizations, and managing social media outreach.

 

Requirements

Candidates must have completed the first semester of their sophomore year by the time the internship begins at CLA. They must be eligible to work in the U.S. and strongly interested in the agricultural industry, preferably pesticides and agricultural technology.
