Job Title: Controller
Reports to: Director of Finance and Administration
JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller will manage all daily financial processes, fleet management, banking relations, HR, corporate services, IT, staff benefits, and will participate in board activities. This role plays a critical role in efficient financial management, compliance, and works as part of the management team in support of the company's strategic goals.
KEY Responsibilities:
Accounting Processes Lead:
- Manage financial processes, audits, statutory reporting.
- Provide leadership in accounting, cost control, and profitability analysis.
- Ensure effective financial systems and internal controls.
Strategic Planner:
- Work with the management team in annual budgeting and maintain the 5-year financial plan.
- Develop pro forma financial statements and margin analysis.
- Analyze capital investment opportunities.
Fleet Manager:
- Manage the company's fleet of vehicles and related agreements.
Banking and Financial Institution Liaison:
- Banking, financing, and capital structure management.
- Develop relationships with bankers and manage compliance reports.
Human Resources Manager:
- Execute payroll, benefits programs, and oversee HR issues.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook.
Corporate Services Manager:
- Oversee contract administration, office rental, insurance, and telecommunications.
Information Technology Manager:
- Manage IT requirements and liaise with third-party providers.
- Oversee computer equipment needs and online royalty reporting system.
Staff Supervisor:
- Communicate company direction, conduct performance reviews, and manage staff.
- Ensure training requirements are met and oversee new staff orientation.
Management Team Member:
- Attend team meetings and contribute positively.
- Ensure effective communication within the Leadership Team.
Team Member:
- Execute assigned duties, maintain confidentiality, and support safety practices.
- Develop leadership and business skills.
Board Participation:
- Prepare minutes, present financial updates, and ensure timely distribution of materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA Designation
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting
- Experience in Agriculture considered an asset
- Proficient in using QuickBooks, Office 365 Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Power BI
- Self-Starter
