How you’ll make an impact

As a Database Administrator (DBA), you’ll support, maintain and modernize our enterprise Oracle database environment – ensuring the performance, availability, security and reliability of critical database systems while working closely with application teams, architects and operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a for a DBA who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving and contributing to modernization initiatives in a collaborative, Agile environment. What you’ll do

  • Perform diagnostics, testing and troubleshooting of database and operating system issues to ensure stable and reliable database services 
  • Monitor database environments, act on system alerts and respond to performance, availability and stability issues in a timely manner 
  • Execute database migrations, patching, upgrades, backups and recovery, reoganizations, and data movement activities  
  • Manage and resolve business-as-usual service requests, incidents and operational tickets through established ITIL processes 
  • Identify, analyze and remediate database performance and availability issues 
  • Support database-related deployment and change activities, ensuring controlled, reliable releases into production environments 
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide support outside of regular working hours when DBA expertise is required 

 

What you’ll bring to the team

Required qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or information technology
  • Minimum five years of experience in database administration (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Minimum five years of Oracle Database Support & Postgres Administration experience 
  • Minimum fiveyears of AWS RDS experience (including Aurora, option groups and parameter groups) 
  • Experience with ITIL processes – incident, change and service request management procedures 

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of performance monitoring, disaster recovery, failover, high availability, archive/transaction log management, AWS DMS, auditing and backup solutions SQL Server experience
  • Ability to configure SSL  encryption, AWS IAM authentication and cost optimization
  • Experience with Redshift and Oracle Enterprise 
  • Advanced SQL knowledge is an asset, but this role is focused on administration
