The Agricultural Risk Policy Center at NDSU adds Wuit Yi Lwin and Ming Wang to its team, expanding research in international trade, risk analysis, conservation, and climate-smart agriculture.

The Agricultural Risk Policy Center (ARPC) at North Dakota State University has expanded its team by welcoming two new research economists — Wuit Yi Lwin and Ming Wang. Their addition brings fresh insights into agricultural risk, trade, and sustainability research.

Wuit Yi Lwin will serve as a senior research economist. Her research focuses on international agricultural trade, market disruptions, and risk analysis. “Lwin’s research centers on international agricultural trade, market disruptions, and risk analysis.” She has examined how disease outbreaks in animals can affect soybean trade around the world and explored climate risks in the livestock sector.

Lwin has expertise in price and demand system modeling, which helps explain how outside events change global agriculture. Her work is valuable for shaping agricultural policies during uncertain times. She earned her doctorate in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University and brings global market knowledge to ARPC’s team.

Ming Wang joins the center as a junior research economist.

“Wang’s research focuses on the intersection of agricultural policy, environmental conservation, and international trade.” She investigates how U.S. conservation programs influence land use, employment, and greenhouse gas emissions. Her studies also explore how these programs affect emissions in other countries.

Wang combines economic and scientific models to understand how farming decisions change with different policies and climate stress. Her work helps build stronger, more sustainable farm systems. She earned her doctorate in agricultural and resource economics from Colorado State University.

“Wang joins ARPC with a commitment to advancing sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.” Both economists support ARPC’s mission to improve agriculture through research that informs policy and helps farmers manage risk.

With Lwin and Wang on board, ARPC strengthens its focus on global markets, sustainability, and smarter agricultural decisions for a changing world.
