USDA appoints five experienced agriculture leaders to the Tennessee FSA state committee to oversee farm programs, guide policy delivery, and support farmers and ranchers across the state.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced the appointment of five agriculture leaders to serve on the Farm Service Agency state committee in Tennessee. These appointments are made by Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins as part of the Trump Administration’s Farmers First commitment.

The Tennessee FSA state committee plays an important role in supporting farmers, ranchers, and agricultural communities. Committee members oversee the delivery of federal farm programs, guide county committee operations, review program appeals, and maintain strong relationships with agriculture stakeholders. They also help keep producers informed about available FSA programs and services.

Each FSA state committee includes three to five members and a designated chair. The newly appointed chair for Tennessee is George McDonald of Riddleton. McDonald is a fourth-generation farmer who manages a large row of crop operation and produces hay, strawberries, and watermelons across six counties.

Other committee members include Perry Dykes of Surgoinsville, a family farmer who produces corn, soybeans, sweet corn, and beef cattle. Dykes is a retired FSA county executive director and a former district director for east Tennessee. Wesley A. Eubanks of Bells is a multi-generational farmer producing corn, cotton, soybeans, and wheat in west Tennessee, with nearly 20 years of experience as a crop insurance agent.

Charlotte Kelley of Covington is a lifelong west Tennessee farmer with a row crop operation and co-ownership in a cotton gin. Jared Brandon Jackson of Belfast owns and operates a livestock business that includes a cow-calf herd, feedlot, hay production, and custom backgrounding. He has also served in several local farm and cattle organizations.

“These individuals, selected by Secretary Rollins in partnership with key stakeholders in each state, are held in high regard in the agriculture industry and are entrusted to ensure FSA programs are delivered in a manner consistent with federal farm policy and in the best interest of all agricultural producers in their state,” said Bill Beam.

Through its national network of offices, FSA supports agricultural operations by managing credit, conservation, disaster recovery, and commodity programs that help strengthen rural America.
