The National Association of Wheat Growers recognizes U.S. Representative Tracey Mann of Kansas as the 2025 Wheat Leader of the Year. This award honors a Member of Congress who shows strong and consistent support for the wheat industry and American farmers.
Congressman Mann receives this recognition for his leadership in transferring the Food for Peace program to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This change supports long-term stability for the program and protects important export markets for American-grown wheat and other crops. It also ensures that food aid continues to reach vulnerable populations around the world using U.S. agricultural products.
“Congressman Tracey Mann has been a tireless advocate for wheat growers and rural communities, and his leadership on transferring the Food for Peace program to USDA is a major victory for American farmers. This move reinforces the program’s long-term stability, secures vital market opportunities for American-grown crops, and safeguards life-saving in-kind food aid for the world’s most vulnerable populations. For many years, Congressman Mann has consistently championed wheat growers’ priorities in Congress, and NAWG is proud to recognize his commitment with the 2025 Wheat Leader of the Year Award,” said NAWG President Pat Clements.
Congressman Mann also highlights the role farmers play in the nation’s food system and economy. The Wheat Leader of the Year Award is NAWG’s highest legislative honor. It is given each year to one Member of Congress who demonstrates clear dedication to the goals and well-being of the wheat industry. In addition to this top award, NAWG also recognizes other lawmakers with Wheat Advocate Awards for their extra support of wheat growers.
