Governor Greg Abbott has reappointed three experienced leaders—Jerry Dan Davis, Mike Sandefur, and Joe L. Ward—to the Red River Authority of Texas Board of Directors. Their new terms will run until August 11, 2029.
The Red River Authority works to manage and protect the Red River watershed and its Texas tributaries.
Jerry Dan Davis, from Wellington, is a farmer and rancher in Collingsworth, Childress, and Hall counties.
He is actively involved in several boards, including the Panhandle Peanut Growers Board, the Farmers Co-Op Gin Board, and the Collingsworth County Agricultural Board.
Davis has also served on the local school and library boards. He earned a degree in General Agriculture from West Texas A&M University.
Mike Sandefur, from New Boston, leads multiple land and farming companies, including Loblolly Land Company and Barkman Bluff Farms. His community service includes roles with the Texarkana College Foundation, Salvation Army Advisory Board, and the Sulphur River Basin River Authority.
He holds multiple degrees from Rice University, including in Accounting and Business Management.
Joe L. Ward, from Telephone, is a full-time rancher managing a Red Angus and Santa Gertrudis cow-calf operation at Bar S Ranch.
He volunteers for his local fire department and church and has served on many boards, including the State Soil and Water Conservation Board. He also served in both the Army and Air National Guards. Ward holds a business degree from Baylor University.
