The Trump Administration has appointed Steve Brown as the new State Executive Director (SED) for the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Indiana. He officially joins the Indiana FSA team on May 5, 2025.
Brown brings strong experience and leadership to the role. He has spent over 40 years working in his family’s farming business and served previously as Indiana’s FSA State Executive Director during President Trump’s first term. Brown also worked with the USDA for 32 years in Porter and Carroll counties and the Indiana State FSA Office.
In recognition of his long-term contributions to agriculture, Brown was inducted into the Carroll County Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2023.
As SED, Brown is responsible for managing the delivery of USDA FSA programs throughout Indiana. These programs help agricultural producers with support in areas such as commodities, conservation, credit, and disaster relief. They play an important role in ensuring a steady and safe supply of food, fiber, and fuel across the country.
“FSA State Executive Directors serve in a critical role carrying out USDA’s mission at the state level — ensuring that our focus is on meeting the needs of local agricultural producers by putting farmers and ranchers first,” said FSA Administrator Bill Beam.
“When America’s farming communities prosper, the entire nation thrives. This new group of USDA appointees will ensure President Trump’s America First agenda is a reality in rural areas across the country. I am grateful for the leadership of these new state directors and look forward to their work reorienting the agency to put Farmers First again,” said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.
