The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation is helping shape the next generation of agricultural educators by awarding scholarships to 11 students enrolled in the Agricultural Education Teaching Program at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
These scholarships are aimed at students who are preparing to become teachers focused on agriculture, one of Nebraska’s largest and most essential industries. The goal of the foundation is to engage students, educators, and the broader public in learning about agriculture’s critical role in the state.
Each scholarship recipient will receive $1,500, which will be distributed during their student teaching semester. This support helps cover the costs associated with gaining real classroom experience and becoming certified educators.
“The future of agriculture education is bright with these recipients at the helm,” said Megahn Schafer, executive director of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation. “Their passion and commitment to serving communities and connecting young people to the vast opportunities in agriculture is evident. It’s an honor to support these future teachers who will develop strong leaders who will push Nebraska agriculture forward.”
Among the recipients, one student from northeastern Nebraska was selected: Erica Brown of Madison County. Her recognition highlights the foundation’s commitment to supporting aspiring teachers from all regions of the state.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation continues to invest in future educators who will make a difference in both classrooms and communities. By supporting students in agricultural education, the foundation ensures that young people across Nebraska will gain the knowledge and leadership skills they need to succeed in agriculture.
This scholarship program reflects the state’s dedication to its agricultural roots and the educators who will carry that legacy forward.
