Richard Fordyce, a seasoned agricultural leader, is appointed as USDA Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation, continuing his impactful career.

Richard Fordyce, previously OBP’s Director of Ag Business, has recently been appointed as the USDA Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation.

This new role recognizes his extensive experience and commitment to agriculture at multiple government levels. Fordyce's career is noted for his leadership and farmer-first approach, attributes that he will bring to his new position at the USDA.

Fordyce will maintain ties with OBP, advising on significant agricultural initiatives like the AgSmarts education program.

His extensive background includes over 30 years of leadership in agriculture, from local to national positions.

He was the Administrator of USDA’s Farm Service Agency, leading efforts to support farmers and ranchers through challenging times with a network of over 2,000 county and 50 state officials.

His earlier roles include serving as the director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture, appointed by Governor Jay Nixon, and participation on the United Soybean Board, directly serving Missouri soybean farmers.

Alongside his professional accomplishments, Fordyce and his wife Renee continue to run Fordyce Farms in Harrison County—a fourth-generation farm producing soybeans, corn, and cattle.

This blend of practical farming experience and policy leadership equips Fordyce to significantly influence U.S. agricultural strategies and support.

Fordyce's appointment is pivotal as it comes at a time when the agriculture sector faces numerous global challenges.
