Agri-Pulse recently expanded its editorial team by appointing Oliver Ward as the new international trade editor. This strategic hire aims to strengthen the publication’s coverage of international trade issues, a critical area for the agriculture industry.
Oliver Ward brings a rich blend of experience and expertise to Agri-Pulse. His journalism career spans several years during which he focused on international economics and trade.
Ward’s prior role at Inside U.S. Trade involved in-depth reporting and analysis, which positioned him as a respected voice within trade journalism circles in both the U.S. and internationally.
Ward was integral to the digital content production team at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a non-partisan think tank.
Here, he worked under the guidance of Steven Weisman, a former correspondent for the New York Times, contributing to economic newsletters, data visualizations, and a widely cited tracker analyzing the U.S.-China phase one trade agreement’s impact.
“Oliver’s background in trade and international economics will be an invaluable addition to the Agri-Pulse team,” said Agri-Pulse Editor in Chief Philip Brasher. “Our readers are going to benefit immensely from his coverage.”
Ward holds a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology from the University of Leeds and a master’s degree in journalism and digital storytelling from American University in Washington.
His academic background complements his professional skills, equipping him with a nuanced understanding of the socio-economic factors influencing global trade dynamics.
