Nuffield Canada is now accepting applications for its 2027 Contemporary Scholarship Program. The program offers people involved in agriculture, food production, and business an opportunity to gain international experience and expand their understanding of global agriculture. Organizers describe the scholarship as a life-changing learning experience that helps participants grow personally and professionally.
The scholarship program is open to individuals between the ages of 25 and 50 who work in agricultural production, food industries, or related businesses. Successful applicants will travel internationally, study agricultural systems, and take part in hands-on learning experiences focused on farming, food production, leadership, and innovation.
Nuffield Canada says the program helps scholars explore new ideas and learn about agriculture from different countries and cultures. Participants are encouraged to study topics connected to their professional interests while building leadership skills and global connections. The program also allows scholars to bring fresh ideas and practical knowledge back to Canada’s agriculture sector.
Chair Steve Larocque explained the value of the experience for scholars and the agriculture industry. “The Nuffield contemporary scholar’s journey takes you to the edge of your imagination and then catapults you beyond it,” says Chair Steve Larocque. “The journey challenges scholars like they never have been before and gives them perspective and insight on global challenges and opportunities they’d never find at home. In doing so, they bring the world of agriculture back to Canada.”
The scholarship journey lasts for two years and includes at least 10 weeks of international travel. During this period, scholars visit farms, research centers, businesses, and agricultural organizations in different countries. They also connect with producers, researchers, and industry leaders from around the world.
At the end of the program, scholars are expected to return with stronger leadership skills, a deeper understanding of global food production, and valuable international relationships. Organizers say the experience often creates lifelong friendships and encourages scholars to support positive change in their businesses, communities, and Canadian agriculture.
Applications for the 2027 scholarship program remain open until June 30, 2026. Additional details about the program, application process, and scholarship opportunities are available through Nuffield Canada at nuffield.ca.
