NARA expands its scholarship program to support students in agriculture and sustainability, offering financial aid and encouraging future careers in the rendering industry across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

North American Renderers Association is accepting applications for its second Annual Rendering Scholarship Program. This program supports students and helps build the next generation of leaders in the rendering industry. It also encourages students to understand the important role of rendering in the agricultural supply chain and the circular economy.

The scholarship program first launched in 2025 and awarded one student. In 2026, the program expands to support up to three students. Each selected student will receive a $2,500 scholarship. The awards are based on academic performance and a clear interest in the rendering industry and related fields.

The scholarship is open to students who are currently enrolled or accepted into a college, university, or trade school in the United States, Canada, or Mexico. It focuses on students studying agriculture, environmental science, animal science, food systems, or sustainability. This wide eligibility allows students from different backgrounds to apply and explore careers in this field.

Rendering plays an important role in agriculture by recycling animal by-products into useful materials. This process helps reduce waste and supports environmental sustainability. It also contributes to a more efficient food system. By offering this scholarship, NARA aims to raise awareness about these benefits and attract more students to the industry.

“NARA is proud to invest in the future of our industry by supporting students who are passionate about sustainability and innovation,” said Kent Swisher, president and chief executive officer of NARA. “Expanding the scholarship program in its second year allows us to recognize even more talented individuals who will help shape the future of rendering.”

To apply, students must complete an application form and submit an academic transcript, proof of enrollment, and a 500-word essay explaining the importance of rendering. The application deadline is June 15.

This scholarship program reflects NARA’s ongoing commitment to education and workforce development. By supporting students today, the organization is helping prepare skilled professionals who will contribute to the future of agriculture and sustainability.
