During the 2024 Indiana Farm Bureau State Convention, a notable ceremony highlighted the contributions of county Farm Bureaus through the County Activities of Excellence awards.
These awards commend counties for pioneering programs that positively impact local communities and align with the strategic goals of engagement, innovation, advocacy, and knowledge sharing in agriculture.
Four county Farm Bureaus stood out this year for their exceptional initiatives. Grant County excelled in advocacy by engaging its community through a “Meet the Candidate” event, which informed local voters about agricultural issues.
Steuben County demonstrated innovation by hosting a “farmers share breakfast” at the local farmers market, enhancing public understanding of the agricultural value chain and raising funds for a local food pantry.
Scott County was recognized for adding educational value, organizing an agricultural tour that educated participants about local farming practices and agricultural commodities.
This tour included visits to diverse farms, providing a comprehensive look at the county's agricultural landscape.
Howard County was applauded for its efforts to grow engagement through a family-oriented event that doubled attendance at their annual meeting, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose among attendees.
These counties received a $2,000 award each to further develop their programs, along with the opportunity for two members to attend the INFB’s annual convention, expenses paid.
This recognition not only highlights the dedication of these counties to enhancing agricultural understanding and involvement but also underscores the importance of local efforts in strengthening the broader agricultural community.
