Media ArticleKurt Blomgren has been appointed as the new State Executive Director (SED) for the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in Minnesota. He officially joined the Minnesota FSA team on May 5, 2025.
Blomgren is a fourth-generation family farmer from Butterfield, Minnesota. He operates a diversified crop and livestock farm with his son and family. His decades of experience in agriculture, paired with community involvement, make him well-suited to lead FSA operations in the state.
“When America’s farming communities prosper, the entire nation thrives. This new group of USDA appointees will ensure President Trump’s America First agenda is a reality in rural areas across the country. I am grateful for the leadership of these new state directors and look forward to their work reorienting the agency to put Farmers First again,” said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.
“FSA State Executive Directors serve in a critical role carrying out USDA’s mission at the state level — ensuring that our focus is on meeting the needs of local agricultural producers by putting farmers and ranchers first,” said FSA Administrator Bill Beam.
Blomgren’s agricultural leadership includes 27 years with the Minnesota Farm Bureau, serving on local and state committees. He is also a volunteer firefighter, Sunday school teacher, and mentor for local youth livestock projects.
As SED, he is responsible for the administration of FSA’s key programs across Minnesota, including commodity, credit, conservation, and disaster assistance efforts that support food and fuel security nationwide.
