Krista Swanson has been promoted to Chief Economist at the National Corn Growers Association, bringing extensive expertise and a fresh perspective to NCGA.

The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Krista Swanson to the role of Chief Economist.  

 

With over two years of dedicated service as NCGA’s lead economist, Swanson’s new position marks a significant advancement in her career, reflecting her profound impact and expertise within the agricultural sector. 

 

Swanson came to NCGA in 2023 from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. There, she distinguished herself as a research specialist for the Gardner Agricultural Policy Program.  

 

Her academic credentials include a B.A. in Crop Science and an M.A. in Agricultural Applied Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. 

 

Swanson authored influential reports and articles that have shaped NCGA’s legislative agenda, particularly in response to new administrations and congressional shifts in the U.S. Her work includes pivotal analysis on the impacts of Mexico’s ban on genetically modified corn from the U.S., highlighting the mutual economic stakes involved. 

 

As Chief Economist, Swanson is set to take on greater responsibilities, focusing on strategic economic analysis and policy design that will benefit corn growers across the nation.  

 

Her role is crucial in navigating the complex landscapes of agricultural policy and economic challenges, ensuring that NCGA’s members are well-represented and supported at both national and international levels. 

 

Swanson’s expertise and her ability to communicate complex economic concepts in accessible ways will continue to be invaluable as she leads NCGA’s economic research and policy advocacy efforts.
