Jocelyn Lambert of the Middlesex 4H Association receives the 2025 Bertram and Hazel Stewart 4H Dairy Youth Education Award along with a one-thousand-dollar bursary. This honor recognizes outstanding youth who show strong leadership, commitment to agriculture, and dedication to learning within the 4H program.
During the award presentation at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on November 11, Lambert shares how her experience shapes her understanding of agriculture. “My experience at the Glencoe 4-H Dairy Club has deepened my appreciation for agriculture and the hard work behind it,” she says. She explains that “It’s not just about caring for animals, it’s about dedication, responsibility, and recognizing the role farming plays in supporting communities.”
Lambert begins her 4H journey through the Cloverbud program and continues to grow her skills through many opportunities. She completes 15 projects and takes part in several provincial events, including Discovery Days, Youth Adventure Camp, and the provincial 4H Leadership Camp. Her involvement shows her interest in agriculture and her commitment to becoming a strong leader.
The award honors the lifelong commitment of Bertram and Hazel Stewart to agriculture education and 4H youth development. The bursary is offered to 4H members from Grades 9 to 11 who demonstrate leadership and express plans to pursue post-secondary education. The intention of this award is to support young people preparing for future careers and leadership roles.
Kelly Stewart French explains how the award reflects her parents’ values. “Mom and Dad’s passion for 4-H, education, and agriculture will now carry on for years to come,” she says. This statement shows the long-term impact of the Stewart family’s dedication.
Theresa Wever, chair of the Ontario 4H Foundation, notes the importance of partnerships that support the 4H program. She explains that these partnerships help provide opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and build skills that will shape their future careers in agriculture.
This recognition celebrates both Lambert’s achievements and the broader goal of supporting youth who will become future leaders in agriculture.
